When you install the Funnelizer add-on, you will initially be presented with a "setup" tab similar to this:

This is like your "admin" panel, where you need to set up your funnel configuration. Let's go through each set of fields step by step

1. Global Settings

These are the general settings you want to follow:

  • Funnel Name: This is completely up to you, but we recommend setting up a name that gives information about the context of the current funnel, for example "checkout_deepdive", if you are particularly interested in analysing the checkout steps
  • Google Analytics View ID: This is used to define where to query the data from. You can find details on how to find your view-id here
  • Start Date: The start of the data input. By default that is set to 90 days from today
  • End Date: The end of the data input. By default that is set to today
  • Step Logic: This field is an advanced field, so only edit if you are sure how it affects your data. The brief explanation is that if you are looking for a sequential funnel, then "sequence" is what you should go for. If you want each step to be evaluated as a separate segment vs the previous, select "segment"
  • Scope: This field is an advanced field, so only edit if you are sure how it affects your data. The brief explanation is that if you are looking for sequence steps within a particular session, select "sessions". If you want to evaluate users across sessions, then select "user"

2. Dimensions

Here you will need to define the dimensions by which you want your data to be broken down. You can select a maximum of 6 dimensions. For further info about dimensions, you can check the relevant Google Analytics references

3. Steps

This is the point were you actually define the step rules you want your funnel to follow.

  • Step Name: This is completely up to you, but we recommend setting up a name that gives information about the context of the current funnel, for example "checkout"
  • Definition: This is the definition of each step. It needs to be inserted in a particular format to be able to accommodate multiple AND / OR rules. In order to help with that, we've build a handy Formatter Tool that you can use to create each step definition separately

4. Run the report

Once you have set up your inputs, you can run your report. You do that by going to the Add-ons  link at the top of the navigation bar, select funnelizer, and then hit the "Run Report" button when the sidebar opens
